The University of Parma and CUCI launch “Voices for the Wild”: a bridge between Italy and Africa for nature conservation

Parma, 21 April 2026 – The University Centre for International Cooperation (CUCI) of the University of Parma is pleased to inaugurate today, at the Aula Magna of the Central Headquarters, the seminar “Voices for the Wild: Education and International Cooperation for Nature Conservation”. The event opens a three-day programme dedicated to strategic dialogue among academia, institutions, and global organizations engaged in the protection of ecosystems.

The initiative stems from the consolidated collaboration between the University of Parma and the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC), a leading African institution in the training of rangers and protected-area management specialists. The project, actively promoted by CUCI and the Master’s Degree Programme in Ecology and Ethology for Nature Conservation, aims to strengthen international synergies for the prevention of crimes against nature and the safeguarding of biodiversity.

The meeting features contributions from internationally renowned speakers:

Matt Lindenberg, conservationist and founder of the Global Conservation Corps (South Africa).
Orlat Ndlovu, Head of Ranger Services at Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in Kruger National Park (South Africa).
Sonia Anelli, Director of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.
Gianluca Catullo, Species and Habitat Officer at WWF Italy.

The seminar represents a key milestone in the internationalization pathway of the University of Parma, which through CUCI continues to promote advanced education and research programmes aimed at generating tangible impact on global sustainability.

“Voices for the Wild” is not only a moment for academic reflection, but also a call to action to protect natural heritage as a universal legacy, bringing together technical expertise, ethical awareness, and transnational cooperation.
