INES-Ruhengeri and the University of Parma Strengthen Strategic Academic Partnership

On May 21, 2025, the University of Parma had the honor of hosting a delegation from INES-Ruhengeri (Rwanda), reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two institutions. The delegation was led by the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya, and included Dr. Theodore Habimana, Head of the Computer Science Department at INES-Ruhengeri. They were received by the Rector of the University of Parma, Professor Paolo Martelli. Also in attendance were Professor Paolo Ciampolini and Professor Roberto Valentino, Vice Director of CUCI – the University Center for International Cooperation.

The meeting, held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and enthusiasm, offered a valuable opportunity to review the progress of ongoing initiatives and explore new avenues for collaboration. The two universities expressed satisfaction with their current cooperation, which includes student and academic staff mobility, postgraduate education opportunities for INES-Ruhengeri faculty at the University of Parma, and joint research and development activities with other institutions in Rwanda and Europe.

The Vice Chancellor and the Rector reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding and deepening this collaboration. On this occasion, Rector Martelli announced his intention to visit Rwanda in the near future — a proposal warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Dr. Baribeshya, who expressed his appreciation for the University of Parma’s continued support in fostering international academic partnerships.

During his stay in Parma, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya also visited CUCI – University Center for International Cooperation– of University of Parma where he met with the Director, Professor Nadia Monacelli. The meeting provided a meaningful opportunity to exchange ideas on international cooperation strategies and to explore possibilities for future collaboration within CUCI’s framework.

This ongoing collaboration reflects a shared vision of academic excellence, international engagement, and intercultural dialogue, further consolidating the bridge between Africa and Europe.
